The founder and owner of Travel Health Record was diagnosed with cancer over 25 yrs ago and survived. Having traveled over half the globe he quickly realized the critical need to have some record of medical data available should an emergency arise. The standards of medical healthcare varies widely in developing countries and by not having a record of such simple information as your medication, allergies and blood type could prove to be life threatening.

He developed this site to provide an easy access to just this kind of information wherever and whenever you travel. He has put together a comprehensive and simple set of forms that are easy to interact with and that contain all the critical information that might be needed should you or your loved ones contact an illness or a medical emergency while traveling abroad.

The record is designed for global use by anyone who is traveling or even those who just need the comfort of maintaining their own medical health history.

The company is headquartered in Canada, where the benefits of a provincially funded healthcare system is enjoyed by all. However, because of the need to buy extended health insurance and the travel lust of Canadian snowbirds to escape the winter, it became obvious that such a record was needed not only for Canadians but for anyone traveling abroad.

There were over 14 million Canadian visitors to the US alone in 2005 and millions more who traveled to other international destinations. Canadians enjoy the benefits of government funded healthcare and have grown accustomed to relying on its benefits while in Canada. However, once they leave to travel abroad those benefits are restricted and could result in expensive medical care should the traveler encounter an accident or illness while abroad. THR has seen an opportunity to address this need by providing a central database for a traveler’s medical information to be available on line through the internet anytime, anywhere.
